Kawartha Homes interviews Andy Kinsman of 1867 Confederation Log Homes about building a home of his own

Log homes have been a part of Andy Kinsman’s existence for most of his life and it was inevitable that he would eventually come to own one of his own.

His relationship with 1867 Confederation Log and Timber Frame began with his father, who is co-owner of the company. Rick Kinsman was one of the original employees of the company. He designed and built the first home that 1867 manufactured. As a teen Andy followed in his father’s footsteps and worked in the shop learning about the timbers, and the different steps in cutting and building a log home. With several years experience in the factory and on job sites, Andy is now the Operations Manager for 1867 Confederation Log and Timber Frame and oversees the production of every home, including the design, ordering of materials, in-house construction and delivery.
