2014 marks our 35th year in business. And there’s plenty of reason to celebrate.
We’ve come a long way from our first sales trailer, when owner Rick Kinsman started out as draftsman and sons Andy and Rich were infants with no thoughts of someday joining the family business.
Today, our ‘base camp’ encompasses a stunning sales office, manufacturing facility and model home just one kilometre outside of Bobcaygeon. Our vast international dealer network extends across North America and as far away as Europe, Asia, Africa and South America – spreading the news about 1867 Confederation quality to a wider audience than we ever imagined. We’ve also continued to innovate, from our exclusive thru-bolt design to our precision dovetail corners to the latest advances in timber frame and energy efficiency.
But one thing that really makes us proud is the continued satisfaction of our customers like Hans and Silvia Dummermuth who built their Confederation in 1984.
“Inside it doesn’t look different at all,” says Hans. “Wood has a fantastic insulation factor. It makes for a warm, very cozy atmosphere and gives our home something very special.”
Then there’s David and Sandy Reid, third time owners of a Confederation constructed in the late 1980s. The home had so much charm, they signed a deal within four days of spotting it in the window of a real estate office.
“It has absolutely stood the test of time. There’s no deterioration of the logs at all. It’s a beautiful home,” says David.
No doubt we have lots to revel in as we mark another milestone. But rest assured, we won’t be resting on our laurels. There’ll be more announcements unfolding as the year progresses and we invite you to celebrate along with us. We’re not finished ‘logging’ our achievements just yet!
